I am floundering around a bit these days (and doing a bit of soul-searching), and so here I go retooling my blog once again. At the risk of losing any audience I have left, I have decided to leave the advice to those who are better equipped to dispense it.
I became hooked on Five Sentence Fiction from the first time I tried my hand at it and I have found that the posts that get the most traffic are the FSF posts that I participate in and so I am going to jump into the Flash Fiction Writing Prompt Fray and see how that goes. I am going to post two writing prompts here every Tuesday (the Two for Tuesday Challenge) and I will continue to post my own FSF entries as well as participating in other flash fiction offerings that exist out there, so whether you come here to read or write, I hope that you will find something that entertains.
I will kick things off next Tuesday. The Two for Tuesday Challenge will consist of two weekly offerings, a Standard Prompt and a Non-Standard Prompt.
The Standard Prompt will always consist of two words (such as hair drier). The words can be used simply as a point of inspiration and not mentioned directly, they can be included as provided—as a pair—or each word can be used independently of each other as in, “Her hair was much drier after spending time in the sun.”
The Non-Standard Prompt will change from week to week. Sometimes it will be a visual prompt, sometimes a first sentence or phrase, sometimes a scenario, etc. The limit for Two for Tuesday prompts is 200 words unless otherwise specified. There will be one of those little blue link frogs at the bottom for submitting your link.
I hope that this will be a new place of inspiration for writing some flash fiction. On occasion I may still post a review, a bit of information or a musing but not on any regular schedule. If flash fiction is your thing, then maybe this will help scratch your itch. I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday!
